La première colonneligne présente l'unique exception aux principes de Daeron : en effet, le ''m'' (un ''p'' nasalisé et voisé) aurait dû s'écrire, en suivant sa troisième règle, avec la rune n° 5 [[Image:Certh 5.svg|16px|5]], c'est-à-dire la rune n° 1 [[Image:Certh 1.svg|16px|1]] dont la branche a été reproduite des deux côtés de la base. Toutefois, le sindarin archaïque a besoin d'un signe afin de noter un ''m'' spirant (c'est-à-dire un ''mh''), et selon la deuxième règle de Daeron, il devrait s'agir du symétrique du signe pour le ''m'' normal ; or, la rune n° 5, retournée, est identique à elle-même. Il a donc été décidé d'attribuer le son ''m'' à la rune n° 6 [[Image:Certh 6.svg|16px|6]], qui peut être retournée pour donner la n° 7 [[Image:Certh 7.svg|16px|7]], cette dernière représentant donc le son ''mh''. Enfin, la rune n° 5, orpheline, se voit attribuer la valeur ''hw''.
