After reading this discussion, I found this hardly used zoom for next to nothing at a charity shop - with original boxes, paperwork, leather case, strap etc.
I've avoided compact zooms in general, but was curious about the lens quality. The first film is now loaded...
Couldn't find much info about this particular Prego model - it may say "Rollei Germany" on it, but nowhere says where it was actually made.
It is lightweight (210g) and slim, looks good from the front (that grey stuff is brushed metal), but cheap as a Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim from the back. The lens is a 38-120mm f/4.8-f/14.85, six groups, 4 aspherical surfaces. Shutter speeds 2s-1/330s. Minimum focusing range 0.6m. The zoom viewfinder is small and a little dim, but has dioptre correction. One button each for zooming wide/tele, close enough to the shutter release for accidents(?). Infinity focus and "spot focus" modes. Several flash modes, including flash off. Ludicrously long lens barrel at 120mm...
