DescriptionLeica IIIc converted to IIIf BD ST (5607717791).jpg
-- Leica IIIc converted to IIIf BD ST (Black Dial, Self Timer), S/N = 514xxx (1950?)
-- Ernst Leitz Wetzlar Summitar f=5cm 1:2 lens (collapsible)
Note that the lens is in collapsed position (looks better that way), and the flash synch dial is set to 16 (so the little prongs show up in the photo)
Taken with a Canon T2i/550D and Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens at f/6.3. 52 1/30-second exposures at ISO100 were combined with Zerene Stacker in PMAX mode into a focus stack (or DOF stack).
The fine focus control (">") in the Canon EOS Utility was used to space the subexposures in the focus stack. I would have preferred about 35 subexposures, but the ">>" and "<<" focus controls were too coarse. This method seems to have given better results than the focus rail method of spacing the subexposures. I'm guessing that the entrance pupil changes position a lot less with this method, meaning that there is not so much perspective change across the stack.
