DescriptionCanon EF 70-200mm F4L USM zoom lens.jpg
A friend of mine bought a Ford Cortina 1.3. He really wanted the 1.6 but reasoned that the 1.3 gave better economy and cost less to buy. Within a short time, he regretted the decision and longed for the more powerful car.
It is the same with me. I bought the non IS version of the 70-200mm lens. I really wanted the stabilised version to compliment the other IS lenses I own but talked myself into the compromise. That was silly because of all lenses, telephotos (and macros) are the ones that benefit most from stabilisation.
The non IS lens is extremely good and has taken some great photos (in my modest opinion) but in the back of my mind I'd still prefer the more expensive version.
Thanks to the generosity of my wife, I am now able to correct that mistake. I have an IS version on its way and this one will go on EBay this weekend.
Since it is only a couple of months old and therefore as new, I hope to get back most of what I paid for the original lens.
It was a mistake but hopefully one which won't cost me too much.
